DA14531 Module Available For Battery Management System

Table of Contents

Battery Management Systems (BMS) is commonly known as battery housekeeper. It is mainly to intelligently manage and maintain each battery unit, prevent battery overcharge and overdischarge, prolong battery life, and monitor battery status.

The BMS system unit includes a BMS battery management system, a control module, a display module, a wireless communication module, electrical equipment, a battery pack for powering the electrical equipment, and a collection module for collecting battery information of the battery pack.

The BMS battery management system is respectively connected with the wireless communication module and the display module through the communication interface;

The output end of the acquisition module is connected with the input end of the BMS battery management system;

The output end of the BMS battery management system is connected with the input end of the control module;

The control module is respectively connected with the battery pack and the electrical equipment, and the BMS battery management system is connected with the Server through the wireless communication module.

What are the main functions of a BMS?

The main functions of a Battery Management System for electric vehicles are:

1.Battery protection in order to prevent operations outside its safe operating area, such as:
* Over-current during charging
* Over-current during discharge
* Over-voltage during charging, especially important for lead–acid and Li-ion cells
* Under-voltage during discharging
* Over-temperature
* Charging while under temperature
* Over-pressure (NiMH batteries)
* Ground fault or leakage current detection (system monitoring that the high voltage battery is electrically disconnected from any conductive object touchable to use like vehicle body)

2.Battery monitoring by estimating the battery pack state of charge (SoC) and state of health (SoH) during charging and discharging.

3.Battery optimization thanks to cell balancing that improves the battery life and capacity, thus optimizing the driving range for hybrid (HEV), plug-in (PHEV) and full electric vehicles (BEV).

In conclusion, the BMS battery management system is of great significance to protect the safety of electric vehicles, charging station equipment and personnel.
