Introduction of car-grade Bluetooth +Wi-Fi module

Table of Contents

Generally, automotive electronic products are more expensive than consumer products.
There are industrial-grade and car-grade products. Today, let’s talk about the reason why car-grade bluetooth chips have a higher price.

Validation criteria of car-grade

AEC-Q100 Requirements for Active Device Components
AEC-Q200 Requirements for Passive Device Components

Ambient temperature

Automotive electronics have relatively strict requirements for the operating temperature of components, which have different requirements according to different installation positions, but generally higher than the requirements of civilian products; AEC-Q100 temperature threshold minimum standard -40- +85°C, around the engine : -40℃-150℃; passenger compartment: -40℃-85℃; other environmental requirements such as humidity, mold, dust, water, EMC and harmful gas erosion are often higher than the requirements of consumer electronics;

Consistency requirements

For automobile products with complex composition and large-scale production, poorly consistent components can lead to low production efficiency, and at worst, lead to the production of most car products with hidden safety hazards, which is definitely unacceptable;

Reliability

Under the same premise of design life, the more components and links the system consists of, the higher the reliability requirements of the components will be. The industry’s poor statistics are usually expressed in PPM;

Vibration and shock

Large vibrations and shocks will be generated when the car is working, which has high requirements for the anti-shock ability of the parts. If abnormal work or even displacement occurs in a vibrating environment, it may bring huge safety hazards;

Product life cycle

As a large, durable product, the life cycle of the automobile may be as long as ten years or more. This poses a great challenge to whether the manufacturer has a stable supply capacity.

Car-grade module recommendation

For vehicle-mounted electronic products, exist data (Bluetooth key, T-BOX), audio single BT/BT&Wi-Fi and other car-grade modules. These modules are widely used in vehicle multimedia/smart cockpits. For example, FSC-BT616V that adopts TI CC2640R2F-Q1 chip and FSC-BT618V adopting TI CC2642R-Q1 chip are recommended, and also including protocol stack module FSC-BT805 based on CSR8311 chip, Bluetooth &Wi-Fi combo module FSC-BW104/BW105 which adopts QCA6574 (SDIO/PCIE), etc.
